The perspective was nothing short of rosy for the men of Audi Sport, the Le Mans race inangurale the Intercontinental Cup, on the British circuit of Silverstone. On September 12, both R15 in fact part of the first row, with # 7 (Kristensen / Mc Nish) in pole position and # 8 (Bernhard / Capello) in second place, with the first of the Peugeot a second off the pace.
Unfortunately, the result of qualifying, so as good as unusual, did not translate into a good result on track. The reason? Once again, the pattern made of highs and lows of R15. After his performance nothing short of excellent Le Mans at Silverstone has left some with a bitter taste. Species Allan Mc Nish, who in his home track had to retire to a differential problem. So after just 15 laps ended the race for the R15 # 7. Even for the # 8 race was not a walk: the traffic has caused considerable problems, and the new aerodynamic configuration brought to light again the problem of understeer. The Peugeot, faster, both have had the best on the only remaining R15, which had to continue the race without too daring.
As a result, after 170 laps of the 908 Minassian / Davidson crossed the finish line first, followed by the second Peugeot Lapierre / Sarrazin. Third place for the R15's Timo Bernhard and Dindo Capello. Peugeot is the first in the constructors' championship with 47 points, followed by Audi with 21 points.
The next event? Petit Le Mans.
